The Black Musical Arts Community Choir of Kansas city is a newly formed organization committed to showcasing classically trained African-American musical artists including vocalists, instrumentalists, and composers. Though classically trained, artists in the organization specialize in a wide range of musical genres including Spirituals, Opera, Oratorio, Musical Theater, Jazz, and Gospel. Members of BMACC include vocal musicians from the Lyric Opera of Kansas City, Ebony Chorale, University of Missouri-Kansas City,
and the University of Kansas.
Bass-Baritone Robert McNichols, Jr., Founder and Conductor, is the Assistant Professor of Music for Harris-Stowe State University, and holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in Voice and Opera degree from the University of Kansas. The mission of the Black Musical Arts Community Choir of Kansas City is to spread awareness of music by African-American composers, showcase talented African-American musical artists, provide performing opportunities in the Kansas City metro area and abroad, and educate the Kansas City metro area African-American community about classical music.
